"Desert Wind" is a hanging kinetic
wind sculpture. It is suitable for a front porch, back porch, the eves
of a house, a patio, etc. High quality bearings ensure this sculpture
responds to the slightest breeze. Many of the parts that make up this
art piece are historical in nature. The weathered sheet metal used to
construct the paddles and main body came from a very old billboard that
once stood south of Reno. The rusty paddle springs are from a Nevada ghost
town. The rusty wire is from Nevada's Black Rock Desert. The large diameter
axle wire that runs through the center of this piece is from an old telegraph
line. Copper tubing with a blue/green patina is used to support the paddles. |
